Baseball’s War Roster

Many ballplayers lost significant playing time to various military conflicts, from service during the Civil War–when baseball was yet professionally organized–to the Vietnam War.  There were legends like Ted Williams and Bob Feller who missed several years of baseball action to military service, and lesser known athletes like Lloyd Merriman and Lou Brissie who achieved lasting fame not on the ball field but in the battlefields.  Every Major League ballplayer who missed baseball action to service in the military is listed within the pages of Baseball’s War Roster.
